NEW VETERANS INITIATIVE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 17, 2015
“GOOD NEWS FOUNDATION & MAYOR ROBERT PALMIERI
ANNOUNCE NEW VETERANS INITIATIVE”
Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri and Michael Buckley, Executive Director of the Good News Foundation announced today, “ Flags for Heroes and Families,” an initiative that recognizes veterans, active duty military and their families.
The public is invited to sponsor a special United States Flag that will be mounted on the Memorial Parkway during Veterans Day Weekend in November. For information on how to sponsor a flag, visit www.TheGoodNewsCenter.org
The concept stems from “Healing Field Flag Displays” – a national movement that has become the symbol of hope and healing to hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country.
Mayor Palmieri said “I am pleased to support the Flags for Heroes and Families initiative as it is important we honor our Veterans and show our appreciation for the sacrifices they’ve made defending our freedom and way of life.
Michael Buckley, Executive Director of the Good News Foundation. “Many times veterans and their families face serious challenges; especially after a tour of duty, and it is important we do everything we can to honor their service to our country.”
All proceeds received from this project will benefit Good News Foundation programs offered in support of our military personnel and their families.
On November 7th, there will be a patriotic march on the Memorial Parkway focusing on the dedication and commitment of all veterans, active military and their families.
“Flags for Heroes and Families” is also receiving support from The Genesis Group, American Legion Post 229, Feed Our Vets, Veterans Outreach Center, Rotary, A & P Master Images, First Source Federal Credit Union and other area officials.
The Good News Foundation is a 501 3(c) Not for Profit organization that is “helping families and touching lives.”
