Ever wonder how your street compares to others in Utica? Now you can see for yourself with the launch of Utica’s Interactive Paving Assessment.

The City of Utica conducted a citywide road maintenance assessment using artificial intelligence and engineering principles with contracted technology from Michelin Better Roads. This data-driven approach will guide the City in developing its annual paving and repair programs. Community input is encouraged to ensure the ratings, photos, and assessments align with what is seen on the streets.

The initiative includes six interactive maps, accessible at bit.ly/uticaroads or  PaveUtica.com. These maps detail every segment of the assessment, categorizing roads by condition levels 1 through 5. By zooming in, users can view specific evaluations, including photographs and detailed explanations for each section of the road.

Mayor Galime highlighted the significance of this effort:
“When campaigning for mayor I knew it was essential to improve the paving process in the City of Utica. This required a clear understanding of the conditions of every road. This comprehensive assessment and its public accessibility mark an important step forward. With Michelin’s expertise and advanced technology, this data-driven approach ensures the City is well-positioned to maximize the impact of its annual paving resources. Additionally, thank you to the hard work of the engineering department for their assistance in making this vision a reality.”
