“Pieces of heART”
The City of Utica and a Division of Upstate Caring Partners together will be holding an art exhibition on Friday August 23, 2024 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Utica City Hall. The exhibition will feature 12 paintings from 15 working artists, as well as a selection of pottery pieces as part of Upstate Caring Partners’ pieces of heART program. Each artist has a unique style and uses an array of tools and techniques specific to them to create their work.
"Our agency is incredibly proud to present this extraordinary collection of artwork in partnership with the City of Utica," said Geno DeCondo, Executive Director of Upstate Caring Partners. "Pieces of heART is dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals of all abilities can explore their artistic talents and share their voices. This exhibition is not just about showcasing their art; it's about recognizing and celebrating their achievements, resilience, and creativity."
Mayor Galime states: “We'd like to thank UCP for collaborating with us on this art show. It opens City Hall in a new and positive light showcasing community inclusion and the organizations which enable those with disabilities to fulfil their self-directed goals in their lives.
The City of Utica is also pleased to announce that the refreshments for the event will be provided by Chef’s Express, a downtown bakery and social enterprise of the Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter, another great organization which serves those with disabilities in our community.”
