City of Utica Signs Contract with Wanderers Rest Humane Association

The City of Utica and ‘Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association have entered into a contract for Wanderers Rest to serve as its Dog Shelter. Details of the contract include $150,000 and a commitment to several adoption and education events throughout the year.

Mayor Galime States: The Administration has spent much time, thought, and scrutiny reviewing how the city has dealt with animal control leading up to this decision.  We are extremely grateful for the partnership forged with ‘Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association and with confidence we are ready to work together. Through our many discussions their passion and care for animals was evident and their ability to answer any question with clarity and direction led to our decision to select their services. Major thanks to the Utica Police Department and its officers for stepping up in a time of need, and the many others who contributed. We look ahead to continuing to work with not only Wanderers Rest, but other organizations committed to our animals to provide responsible and sound care for the animals of the City of Utica.”

‘Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association is pleased to announce the partnership that has been created with the City of Utica.  While Madison County, NY is our heart WRHA is looking forward to what the future holds with this endeavor and how WRHA can spread the reach to communities who are in need of the amazing work that is being done at the organization.  Not only does this partnership encourage the best care possible to the animals but will cultivate humane education, adoption events and responsible pet ownership in hopes of creating a more humane society.  Wanderers’ Rest is confident that this relationship with the City of Utica and the Utica Police Department will be successful. ‘Said Sarah Murdie Executive Director.
