MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES REDEVELOPMENT OF COMMERCIAL TRAVELERS BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN UTICA

 

Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced the Commercial Travelers Building, located at 70 Genesee Street, will undergo a major mixed-use revitalization project.

 

The first floor will include a commercial tenant on the west side of Burchard Lane.  This space will also include a fitness center and community room.

 

The upper floors will be converted from office space to 32 new loft style apartments.  Specifically, there will be twenty-eight 1-bedroom units and 4 studio units.  As part of the exterior redevelopment, all windows will be replaced with windows similar to the original.  The new windows will also be installed where openings are currently filled with brick, glass block or wood. 

 

The proposed improvements to be the building have been submitted to the City of Utica Planning Board and is scheduled to be on the agenda for the Board’s next meeting on May 20th.
