Upstate Cerebral Palsy Sensory Trail Ribbon Cutting with Utica Mayor Robert M. Palmieri
A ribbon cutting for The Upstate Cerebral Palsy Sensory Trail, located on the Armory Drive Campus in Utica, NY, took place on Thursday, September 29th. Utica Mayor Robert and Mrs. Susan Palmieri were in attendance along with Louis Tehan, President and CEO of Upstate Cerebral Palsy, in addition to other community members, staff, children and families of Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
The Sensory Trail is a serene environment where Tradewinds Education Center students are able to relax, enjoy nature and interact with sensory stations and exercise equipment throughout. The trail was constructed in part through funding from the 2015 Mayor’s Gala. Finishing touches are now complete, including installation of a pergola, plants/landscaping and sensory/exercise equipment.
According to Upstate Cerebral Palsy President and CEO Louis B. Tehan, “Thank you to Mayor and Mrs. Palmieri for being here today and for your wonderful contribution to our now completed sensory trail. The proceeds from the Mayor’s Gala have helped to construct this quiet and tranquil getaway for our students, many of whom thrive from a calming, outdoor environment.”
Mayor Palmieri stated, “It is great to see UCP’s Sensory Trail completed as it will serve as an invaluable tool in helping the development of countless children in our community. I thank everyone who attended last year’s gala to support this worthy cause, as well as, Louis Tehan and UCP staff for the great work they do for families across our region.”
