PRICE RITE GROCERY STORE PLANNING TO COME TO DOWNTOWN UTICA

Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced Price Rite Supermarkets plans to open a new grocery store at 501 Bleecker Street in downtown Utica. The supermarket chain is known for fresh quality products at everyday low prices.

Total capital investment for this project is estimated to be several million dollars and will create approximately 85 full and part time jobs.  Price Rite expects to be open by spring of 2017.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “Our Administration is working diligently with Price Rite representatives in order to open a new grocery store in downtown.”

The Mayor continued, “When speaking with current and prospective downtown/Baggs Square residents, there is a universal desire to have everyday amenities readily accessible.  The opening of a grocery store is a major step forward in our mission to make downtown a fully-fledged neighborhood.”

Price Rite President Neil Duffy stated, "We look forward to working with Mayor Palmieri and City of Utica officials to provide local shoppers with the outstanding customer service, variety, value and low prices that Price Rite is known for.”

Known for its everyday low prices, Price Rite will feature a wide selection of fresh produce, organic products and a variety of private label and national grocery brands. Price Rite’s mission is to provide customers with a clean, fresh and friendly shopping experience while offering the same quality foods as traditional supermarkets at about half the price, giving customers the convenience of warehouse club-style shopping without the membership fees or bulk-buying requirements.
