S&H Case No.: COA – 26-0010                                                            Zone: S&H

185-189 Genesee Street                                                                        Cert. of Appropriateness

Applicant:  Kyle Barker

Owner:  Arrow Bank

In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to install signage at the above referenced property.

The proposed work consists of the removal of existing Adirondack Bank exterior signage and related branding elements and the installation of new Arrow Bank signage and architectural branding. Wherever possible, existing mounting locations, electrical connections, and structural components will be reused to minimize disturbance to the existing building façade.

  1. Existing Signage Removal: Remove six (6) existing exterior signs, one (1) awning, and the existing ATM/vestibule wrap. Existing pin-mounted letters will be carefully removed, and all resulting mounting holes will be properly filled and sealed with exterior-grade caulk.

  1. Main Entrance/Raceway Sign: The existing large illuminated raceway sign will be modified or rebuilt to accommodate the new Arrow Bank branding. IMS will coordinate with Kasis Sign to determine whether the existing raceway cabinet can remain in place while replacing only the face/finish components and dimensional lettering. Reusing the existing raceway is preferred to avoid disturbing the existing flashing and to allow reuse of the current electrical infrastructure.
  2. Awning and Upper Signage Removal: Remove the existing awning, black sign located above the awning, and the large pin-mounted Adirondack Bank letters above the entrance. All penetrations resulting from removal will be filled and weather-sealed.
  3. Corner Building Sign: Remove the existing corner building identification sign and replace it with a new approximately 8’-0” x 3’-0” x 1” thick dimensional sign featuring Arrow Bank branding. The new sign is anticipated to be fabricated from HDU or Komacel with an aluminum frame.
  4. Side Entrance Sign: Remove and replace the existing side door identification sign with a new approximately 5’-0” x 2’-0” pin-mounted dimensional HDU or metal Arrow Bank sign.
  5. Rear Entrance Sign: Remove and replace the existing rear door sign with a new approximately 59” x 28” DiBond sign with dimensional lettering.
