In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to install signage at the above referenced property.

 

At the meeting on July 28, 2025, the Commission voted to approve the installation of two (2) signs which are 35” x 108.6” non-illuminated ¼” cut out stud mounted aluminum letters.  The sign will read “AmeriCU Credit Union” with the company logo.  The letters will be black, blue and red.    

 

The Commission also tabled the installation of the monument style sign and suggested that they submit a proposal with inspiration from the signage at Adirondack Bank and GPO Credit Union in South Utica.   The original sign proposed was double sided internally illuminated monument style sign with an LED electronic messaging board.  The messaging board will be 2’ x 8’ and the illuminated sign box will be 2’ x 8’.   The overall height of the sign will be 7’.  The sign will be primarily blue with the AmeriCU logo in black, blue and red on a white panel.  The sign will be perpendicular to Herkimer Road.  

 

The new submission is similar to the original in size and color, however, the address is now located in a triangle section on the top of the sign.

In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to make exterior improvements at the above referenced property.

 

The applicant is proposing to landscape 75’ x 80’ of area in the front of the home.  The landscaping will start near the driveway and extend toward Arlington Road - 80’ wide.  There will be two tiers of retaining wall, matching the width of the house.  The first tier will be flush with the entry way of the house.  The second tier closest to Genesee Street will be no more than 4’ tall.  Closer to the house and off the driveway will be a walk way of pavers that direct to the front door entry way of the home.  There will also be a roughly 8’ in diameter circle of pavers with a 3’ retaining wall, benches and a decorative tree in the center of the seating area.  From this seating area will be a walkway of pavers leading up to an entry door on the front left of the house.  Retaining walls and pavers will be earth tones or grey rock in a color that matches the front of the house.  A mix of blue and white hydrangea plants and trees will be used throughout along with professional warm lighting.

In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to install a roof-mounted wireless communications facility at the above referenced location.

 

The applicant is proposing to install and operate antennas on the roof of the existing building.  They propose to install six (6) antennas and associated equipment to be installed on two (2) non-penetrating ballast mounts on the top of the roof, and cellular and utility equipment located at grade adjacent to the building inside a 14/66’ x 27.66’ fenced area.  The project also includes the installation of power and fiber utilities to service the facility.
