In accordance with the requirements contained in Section 2-29-44 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Utica, the applicant is seeking approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness in order to make exterior improvements at the above referenced property.

 

The applicant is proposing to remove the deteriorated wood clapboard siding and replace it with vinyl siding.  The applicant is proposing to change the color from white to Bayou Blue. 

 

The applicant is also proposing to remove and replace the existing double hung windows with white vinyl casement windows.   

 

Abdirham Mwalimu presented the application to the Commission at the March meeting of the Commission.  The Commission had discussion regarding the style of window the applicant presented.  The applicant explained the replacement window as a double hung but had a photo of a sliding window.  The Commission had concerns with the style of straight siding for the entire house.  They had discussion in regard to the cedar shake portion of the house.  They were apprehensive with the colors presented for the vinyl siding.  They seemed to be different in each sample.

 

The Commission voted to table the application and requested that the applicant provide the following:

 

  1. Specifications and estimates for the windows and vinyl siding;
  2. Rendering of the finished product; and
  3. True paint color samples for the home.
