UTICA FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES GRANT

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced the Utica Fire Department (UFD) was awarded a grant through the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The grant will replace the entire inventory of a 3” fire hose which was purchased in 1988 and reached the end of its service life.  This upgrade will enable UFD personnel to better respond to fire calls and improve public safety.

The total cost to replace the hose was $17,360.  FEMA’s grant is $15,781 and the city contributed the difference ($1,578).  UFD’s grant application was supported by Senator Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Anthony Brindisi.
