MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES POTHOLE CAMPAIGN & ENCOURAGES USE OF UTICA 311 APP

Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced he has directed DPW personnel and resources to focus on fixing potholes and improving street conditions in the City.  The pothole campaign will begin Monday March 11th and continue until Wednesday April 15th to accommodate green waste pickup.

Due to extreme winter weather, city roads and infrastructure have experienced severe damage.  The DPW will utilize all available resources to repair potholes while continuing to work on other winter activities such as plowing and snow removal.

In addition, the Mayor is encouraging residents to utilize the UTICA 311 App.  UTICA 311 is a free Mobile App available for Android and iOS devices which serves as a convenient way for residents and businesses to report issues, such as potholes, by using smartphones and mobile devices.

UTICA 311 allows residents to add photos quickly and easily, while providing City crews with GPS coordinates to help identify the correct location of the reported issue. In addition, the App keeps the resident up to date on the status of their reported issue.  For those unable to use the UTICA 311 app, they may report potholes directly to the DPW by calling 315-738-1341.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “Given the consistent freezing and thawing, this winter has been especially damaging to our streets.  I want the residents to know we are doing everything possible to improve the quality of our infrastructure. I encourage everyone to report potholes to DPW so we can provide these services more efficiently.”

DPW Commissioner Dave Short stated, “As a department we will work diligently to repair as many potholes as possible.  It helps us tremendously when residents report them.  It is important the public realizes these repairs are temporary as it still winter and we may have to plow before spring.”
