MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES DEMOLITION OF TWO PROPERTIES ON EAGLE STREET

Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced two properties located at Mohawk and Eagle Streets will be demolished in the coming weeks.

The two properties are owned by 93 NYRPT, LLC, a subsidiary of Benderson Development Company, and have been vacant and boarded for nearly a decade.

For many years, east Utica residents have expressed concern about the condition of the properties and their impact on quality of life for the neighborhood.

With demolition activities set to begin, Benderson has already begun exploring potential economic development opportunities for the property and will likely be presenting development plans to the City in the next few months.

Mayor Robert Palmieri stated, “Earlier this year, I personally reached out to Randy Benderson and expressed my vision for those properties and that neighborhood.  Given his broad development experience across the country, Randy understood my concerns, appreciated my vision and agreed to work together to enhance the quality of life for residents in this neighborhood.  I am pleased that Benderson will be demolishing these buildings with the potential for new and exciting development.”

Mayor Palmieri continued, “This is a day the residents in this neighborhood have long deserved.”

Benderson Development Company Representative James Boglioli stated, “We look forward to working with Mayor Palmieri and the City to redevelop this property; the first step being the demolition of these structures.  As we work with potential tenants, a strong partnership with the City will result in a successful redevelopment.”
