MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES AMNESTY OF LATE FEES FOR PARKING TICKETS

Program Will Be In Effect From March 20th –March 31st

 

Mayor Palmieri today announced that from Monday March 20th through Friday March 31st the City will grant amnesty of late fees on parking tickets and will accept the original fines for tickets issued from March 20, 2011 through December 31, 2016.  No tickets issued in 2017 are eligible for late fee amnesty.   

 

The City will actively step up the booting process of cars with overdue fines immediately after the amnesty program commences. 

 

Vehicles with three unpaid parking tickets in an 18 month period are eligible to be booted.  In addition, in accordance with New York State law, vehicles that meet these criteria cannot be registered with the State.

 

A boot ticket carries a fine of $150 dollars and cannot be reduced under any circumstances. 

 

The City’s parking ticket office will not be accepting phone calls during this time span and the City Parking Court will be closed during this time period as well. 

 

All payments must be made in person at City Hall or mailed to the parking ticket office (If mailed must be postmarked no later than March 31st)

 

Payments of fines can be made via credit card, check, cash or money order.  If credit card is the method of payment, there will be a 2.5% charge (minimum of $3.00, per fee charged by credit card companies).
