MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES INSTALLATION OF NEW BANNERS

BANNER DESIGNED BY LOCAL ARTIST MARIA VALLESE OF RETRO SORRENTO

Mayor Palmieri, along with John Vella of Utica Sign & Graphics and artist Maria Vallese of Retro Sorrento, today unveiled new designs for banners which will be installed throughout the city as part of the Community Banner Program, a partnership with CGI Communications, Inc. & Community Showcase Banners.

The banners will add vibrancy to the city’s main thoroughfares, such as the Memorial Parkway, Pleasant Street, Burrstone Road, North Genesee Street and Central Genesee Street, while promoting local businesses.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “We wanted to create banners that captured and promoted our city’s unique identity. By collaborating with Maria Vallese, a talented local artist, we were able to achieve this goal. I thank Maria for her passion and dedication to this project.”

Community Showcase Banners representative Matt Cottengim stated, “This initiative is about advertising the City by creating a great first impression for Utica's visitors, investors, individuals or students who are considering positions with local companies and colleges etc. The banners will also highlight the economic vitality and support of local businesses, while showcasing the great assets of our community.”
