Mayor announces ‘Spring Cleaning’ amnesty

 

March 21, 2010- (Utica, N Y) – Utica Mayor David Roefaro is announcing a four week grace period to set green waste material loose at the curb for collection by the City of Utica DPW.

 

Beginning March 28, 2010 the Department of Public Works will start collecting loose green waste at the curb for a four week period only.

 

After April 25, 2010, green waste must be placed in metal or plastic containers and left at the curb on your corresponding garbage night. Shrubbery, branches, and limbs should be no longer than four feet and should be tied or bundled.

 

No loose green waste will be collected after April 25th.

 

Residents will be fined if they put green waste in plastic bags.

 

Green waste left in containers should not exceed 50 pounds, and should never be put in your orange recycling container.
