03/14/10 - On your turf

                    Tax Talk

Roefaro takes budget to the people

March 14, 2010- (Utica, NY) – For the second year in a row, Utica Mayor David Roefaro is taking the city budget onto the taxpayers' turf by answering several questions in a Tax Talk he will conduct throughout the City of Utica.

The Mayor's Tax Talk will address information residents read and hear from the news, offering it in a less diluted setting. The Mayor will take questions, speak about what he has proposed, and talk candidly about what's going on in local government.

"Residents will still have an opportunity to attend the public hearing and voice their concerns," the mayor said. "This Tax Talk is my way of reaching out to residents, coming to them, instead of hoping they'll make it to City Hall during the hearing. I'll answer questions about anything."

The city's first Tax Talk will take place on Tuesday, March 16th at 11am at the North Utica Senior Center, located at 50 Riverside Drive. This location will serve residents of North Utica.

The second Tax Talk will take place on Wednesday, March 17th at 11:30 am at the Parkway Recreation Center, located on the Parkway. This location will serve residents of South and East Utica.

The third Tax Talk will take place on March 18th at 1pm at the West Utica Senior Center, located at 717 Court St. This location will serve residents of West Utica.

Residents are encouraged to attend the regularly scheduled public hearing on the budget- That takes place Wednesday March 17th at 6:30 at City Hall.

They are also encouraged to call the mayor at City Hall with concerns, ideas, or anything else they may need.
