04/07/09 - Mayor to speak at April 7th breakfast

Roefaro is Keynote Speaker at 11th Annual Alcohol Awareness Breakfast, tomorrow morning at Radisson Hotel

April 6, 2009- (Utica, NY)Utica Mayor David Roefaro will be giving the keynote address at tomorrow’s 11th annual Alcohol Awareness Breakfast, at 9:00am, at Utica’s Radisson Hotel, hosted by the Mohawk Valley Council on Alcoholism and Addictions.

The Mohawk Valley Council on Alcoholism and Addictions is committed to educating and assisting the public in their awareness of the effects alcohol has on people.

Roefaro, a long time supporter of programs that preach preventative health, was invited to speak because of his work with area youth, a large portion of the community susceptible to the pressures of drinking.

Roefaro said, “Alcoholism is a dangerous crutch. Its defense begins at home, in the classrooms around America, and in cities like Utica, where we try and empower young people with the tools to say, ‘no thanks’.”

Roefaro begins his address at 9:00am. The cost of the breakfast is $20.00 and open to the public.
