Roefaro announces: "Why I Love Utica" essay contest

 

(September 2, 2008) Utica, NY – Utica Mayor David Roefaro is announcing a "Why I Love Utica" essay contest. The contest is open to all Utica City School District children in the third and fourth grades.

 

The top ten winners will be announced the week of October 6, 2008 and invited to an award ceremony at Hanna Park, the following Saturday, October 11, 2008, where the top ten speeches will be read by the winners. Mayor Roefaro will present the winners with an award and refreshments will be served.

 

Essays must be mailed to: Angelo Roefaro

                                            City Hall

                                            1 Kennedy Plaza

                                            Utica, NY 13502

 

Essays must be 150 words and can be about anything that explains why you love Utica. Topics can include: Our Parks, our Boilermaker, The fire-works, Family events, or anything else that tells the Mayor why Utica is so special to you.

 

The deadline for entries is Saturday, October 4, 2008. Typed essays are preferred but not mandatory. Please include school you attend, grade, and your teacher's name with the essay.
