                 MAYOR: "Two thumbs up"

August 23, 2008 – (Utica, NY) - This weekend something fantastic is occurring right here in the heart of Utica. For the Good Inc., led by CEO Cassandra Harris-Lockwood will present the original production of "The Wonderful Wizard of Was." a locally written, choreographed, produced, and musically orchestrated theatre production of  'The Wizard of Oz"  and "The Wiz, with a Utica story plot.

Mayor Roefaro said, "I attended the play last night with my wife, and other staff. It was phenomenal. The number of children who took the time to get involved has sent a powerful message to those who attended. For too long, areas like Cornhill have been stereotyped in the wrong light. This play changes that. This play changes a lot of things for those who saw it, and for those who acted in it. Cassandra Harris-Lockwood has done a wonderful job. This play gets two thumbs up. I hope tonight brings even a larger turnout." He added, "This production marks the renaissance for the local arts in downtown Utica. With this production we are combining the best of the City of Utica and the newly renovated Stanley Center for the Arts."

Commissioner of Economic Development Robert Sullivan, who also attended the play last night said, "This production marks the first time a community group will take the stage at the newly renovated Stanley Center for the Arts. The artistic skill and diversity represented in this production will be an inspiration to all and a signal that we as Uticans can truly achieve our dreams through our best efforts. The young people in this production worked hard all summer long to bring this performance to this grand stage. I am sure the audience will be impressed."

The performance begins at 8:00 tonight and tomorrow at 2pm as well. Tickets are just $15 and are available at the Stanley box office, 724-4000 or through www.forthegoodinc.org.
